What more are the experts stating?
The county stated that officials found five rabid bats in 2024 in the San Diego area.
Bats that inhabit the county include many species that feed on insects, such as mosquitoes. A lot of different bats consume fruits and soften the seeds before they excrete them, which helps spread seeds across the plant kingdom.
People who have been in close contact with bats were encouraged to wash the area of contact with soap and water and seek medical attention.
More about rabies
Rabies is an infectious disease of a preventive nature all over the world and is mainly transmitted through the bite of a rabid animal, patch.com reported.
In people, rabies symptoms often take weeks to months to show up. However, once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal; the post-exposure prophylactic that prevents rabies must be taken when one gets exposed to the virus, officials stated.
